The Office

Battle Location: Toilet
Subject: The Office (tv show)

I have been currently re-watching all of the seasons of the Office in preparation for Steve Carrel's departure from the show. I must admit that I'd rather the show be finished than see Michael Scott leave Dunder/Mifflin Sabre. Let's all be honest the show stopped being hilarious after the end of season three, then it became funny, which turned into humorous, which became whimsical, and finally it illicits only a brief chuckle and smile from time to time. The show reminds of an old smut magazine that you stole from your dad. At first it was titillating and erotic, now after years of 'vigorous' viewing every time you look at it, you end up "just mashing it" around. The only joy left in the show is A. In the hopes that Michael will finally be happy, or B. the nostalgia of re-watching old airings.
The reason that the show has become so dull as of late is due to the fact that there is no dramatic need in the characters save one, for Michael to end up with Holly. So here is hoping that Will Ferrel or Ricky Gervais or Danny McBride will replace Michael Scott, and the show can return to its roots, being a documentary of the day to day office life in Scranton, Pa. But that will only give the show a few seasons at most more, where we learn to hate, accept, and eventually love Michael's replacement....and then we will back at square one with a sitcom that has gone well past its prime.
